It must account for how the building is physically constructed, how the electrical infrastructure is arranged, and how the system will actually behave under fault or strike conditions. Those three things compliance, construction, and real-world performance don’t always align without deliberate engineering effort. That effort is where TERRATECH concentrates.

Designs that hold up on paper, on site, and under scrutiny.

We produce full engineering designs for earthing and cross bonding systems, lightning protection systems, and small power and lighting installations. Our design work is focused on data centres, critical mission facilities, and high-availability infrastructure environments where the margin for design ambiguity is narrow and the consequences of under specification can be significant.

Our projects span Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg, covering new-build developments and the more complex challenge of retrofitting protection systems into live, operational facilities. In both cases, the design process starts with a thorough understanding of the site, the electrical infrastructure, and the constraints the installation team will face because a design that can’t be built as drawn is of limited value to anyone.

All design work is produced in accordance with IEC 62305, DIN EN 62305, EN 50522, and IEC 60364. Where client specifications or host country regulations impose additional requirements DIN VDE standards in Germany, NEN 1010 in the Netherlands, or AREI/RGIE in Belgium these are incorporated from the outset, not reconciled at the end.

We work closely with M&E consultants, structural engineers, main contractors, and project managers throughout the design process. The aim is always the same: produce a package precise enough that the contractor who receives it can get on with the work, rather than spending the first weeks of the programme generating RFIs.

Key Capabilities / Scope of Design Work

Lightning Protection System Design
Complete external and internal LPS design in accordance with IEC 62305 / DIN EN 62305, including air termination network configuration (mesh, rod, and catenary arrangements as appropriate), down conductor routing, and earth electrode layout. Internal protection design includes bonding and surge coordination for sensitive electronic infrastructure.

Earthing System Design
Site-specific earthing design for LV and HV interfaces, generator sets, UPS systems, transformer neutrals, and raised-floor data hall environments. Includes earth electrode array design, ring earth configurations, and integration with structural steelwork where applicable.

Cross Bonding Design
Detailed cross bonding and equipotential bonding design covering main bonding bars, structural interfaces, mechanical services bonding, and server rack and raised-floor bonding strategies including the added complexity of active data hall environments with dense cable management and phased fit-out programmes.

Surge Protective Device Coordination
Design of SPD protection schemes across cascaded LV distribution boards, with coordination of protection levels against equipment impulse withstand ratings and BS EN / IEC requirements.

Small Power & Lighting Design
Small power and lighting design for plant rooms, technical corridors, UPS rooms, and ancillary spaces within data centre and critical facility environments.

CAD & BIM-Compatible Outputs
2D and 3D CAD drawings produced in AutoCAD, with outputs compatible with coordination environments used by main contractors and BIM workflows where required by contract.

Design Verification & Checking
Third-party checking and independent verification of designs against DIN EN, NEN, AREI/RGIE, and client-specific technical standards including review of contractor-produced design packages for compliance and completeness.

Why Clients Choose Terratech

We have been appointed as the specialist earthing and lightning protection designer on some of the most technically demanding data centre programmes across Germany and the Benelux. The frequency of post-tender design variations on our packages is, consistently, low.

That isn’t because we write conservative designs that leave the contractor to resolve the difficult details. It’s because we resolve those details during the design process working through the coordination issues, the structural interfaces, and the installation constraints before they become problems on site.

Main contractors value that approach when they’re managing a complex programme. Clients value it more, because it’s their contingency budget and their programme that absorbs the cost of design deficiencies.

Complete engineering design for earthing, lightning protection, and small power systems in data centres and critical mission facilities.

[117
post-7213","cpt_services","type-cpt_services","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","cpt_services_group-earthning-lps
["GET
